The BlackDiamond 8806 modular switch from Extreme Networks delivers high-density gigabit Power over Ethernet (PoE) and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. It supports a full range of Layer 2-4 features on every port. A high-performance network connection, whether used to connect PC's and IP telephones at the access layer or to interconnect servers in a cluster, is only useful if it is also highly available. The BlackDiamond 8806 incorporates extensive hardware redundancy and a modular ExtremeXOS operating system. ExtremeXOS supports system recovery and application upgrades without the need for a system reboot, as well as networking protocols that provide the network recovery required by converged applications.
