The Optical Multiplexer (OMX) from Nortel Networks is a multiplexer/demultiplexer capable of supporting up to four wavelengths with two OMX modules installed in a single tray. Each OMX module contains passive optical filters that add and drop up to four channels in the assigned wavelength band. The bands can then be combined into a single optical fiber and added to other bands in an optical fiber path. The Optical Multiplexer is specifically designed for Nortel Networks OPTera Metro 5200 Multiservice Platforms.
