Monarch Report Explorer is an intelligent report viewing utility comprising a subset of Monarch's report mining technology. Unlike other report viewing utilities, Monarch Report Explorer uses a hierarchical index, or tree, much like that used by the Windows 95 Explorer utility. The tree includes field values extracted from one or more sort levels in the report. You explore the report on-screen by navigating within the tree. Monarch Report Explorer includes many of the features that have made Monarch the best selling report mining tool, including Monarch's SmartCopy feature, which automatically parses report text into separate rows and columns for use in spreadsheet and database applications. With Monarch Report Explorer you can view reports with greenbar on-screen, perform field based and text based lookups against the report and print selected report pages to a local or network printer. Monarch Report Explorer works exclusively with a new file format called Portable Report Format, or PRF. This new file format was created by Datawatch for the purpose of electronic report distribution. A PRF file contains one or more report files along with a layer of information describing the data structure of the reports. The data description layer allows the end user to intelligently explore a report on screen. PRF files, referred to as Portable Reports, offer several advantages over other electronic report distribution methodologies. A portable report is a single object that contains all of the intelligence needed to explore a report or series of reports electronically. Portable reports provide built-in compression and data encryption, which minimizes transfer times via e-mail or the Internet while maintaining security of confidential information. Best of all, portable reports retain the familiar look and feel of a printed report.
